1964 Thundebird Hardtop
Here is the essence of a classic...the look that lasts long after the others fade. Here, too, is motion that is almost magic. Factors: 300-horsepower Thunderbird 390 V-8 engine, Cruise-O-Matic Drive, power steering and brakes. All standard, their combination puts you in complete command. And, between you and the road a superb cushioned-in-rubber suspension smooths the way.
It is a unique kind of travel...so nearly effortless. It is unusual convenience as you travel: crank-adjusted vent windows, remote-controlled outside mirror, fender-tip turn signal indicators. It is regal comfort, individually adjustable shell contour seats, the trend-setting SIlent-Flo Ventilation System and many more. It is the sure knowledge that you have made one of the finest of fine car investments. Beyond these, it is a vital “something” which defies the calendar to keep this car “personally” yours. And “Thunderbird” is the word that says it all best.
1964 Thunderbird Landau
A new personal car of limousine elegance...graced by padded vinyl roof and glistening “S” bars, with interior inlays of simulated walnut. This is the formal Thunderbird.
Its walnut-like paneling is a hallmark. Swing-Away Steering Wheel is the only convenience of its kind: it moves aside to help you in or out. Also standard on all Thunderbirds are AM radio, new parking brake which releases automatically when you shift into gear, and retractable front seat belts with reminder light.
Landau padded vinyl roof
Available in black, white, blue, or brown. Cruise in your Thunderbird...people will know you are in a car that is different.
1964 Thunderbird Convertible
Unique among the unique, the Convertible shows it has a top only when necessary (but then with beguiling ease). Other times the top remains concealed beneath that clean sweep of deck. Hidden, too, on all 1964 Thunderbirds (but no less appreciated) are self-adjusting brakes cooled by larger new 15-inch wheels...a battery-saving alternator...a major chassis lubrication interval of 100,000 miles or three years. Cruise in your Thunderbird and discover the difference in action.
quickly and with complete ease. Flip a switch...Thunderbird does the rest. You needn’t stir from the driver’s seat. It stows as easily with nothing to button or fasten.

Thunderbird’s parking brake is different...it releases silently, automatically, when you put the car in gear.Thunderbird’s turn signal indicators are different...they’re out on the front fenders - not on the instrument panel - so you can check the indicators without taking your eyes from the road.Thunderbird’s control instruments are different...a moving beam of light - like mercury in a thermometer - records your speed. Conventional warning lights have vanished. Jet-age instrument dials replace them...show you clearly, instantly your oil pressure...and battery charge conditions. You can even drive this Thunderbird without keeping your foot on the accelerator. A new speed control lets you maintain the speed you select for as long as you like...automatically. Rear seat passengers share an elegantly coved divan whose shoulder-high channeled backcurves gracefully forward along the sides of the car. The thoughtful touch...an arm rest that folds down at the center of this seat. Thunderbird’s famous console is different. Its glove compartment cover is elbow-high, lushly padded, to provide an arm rest for driver and companion. If you choose, the seat alongside the driver reclines and the top extends to become a headrest.
